The Best Way to Remove Paint

If you are remodelling your home or business and are wanting to repaint, your first step would be to remove the old paint first. Unfortunately, removing paint isn’t the easiest thing in the world and requires the use of specific chemicals meant for removing paint.

A paint stripper is going to want to be your first option as it is the perfect solution in the removal of paint and also to remove paint from components so they are ready to be refurbished or repainted. Using this also avoids the use of shot peening or similar abrasive methods that can damage the surface or even enter the component, ruining it completely.

Using Paint Stripper Gel

This product is essentially a thick gel that adheres to the paint and stays where you put it. You will not need a dip tank for this since the product can easily be applied using a brush. It’s a pretty simple task to do and you do not need to purchase any extra tools or train staff on how to do it. This type of gel is particularly useful for vertical surfaces as all you need to do is paint it on and then leave it to do its work.

While the paint remover chemical gets to work, you can continue on with other jobs or take a much-needed break. By the time you get back, the product can simply be scrubbed off, leaving surfaces ready for repair or repainting. In fact, this product can even be used to remove unsightly graffiti from your building.

Getting Eco-Friendly Products

Believe it or not, there are paint stripper gels that are eco-friendly and safe for the environment. Some contain a soy base while others are citrus based. These products can be easily applied with a paintbrush and after letting it sit for some time, can easily remove the paint from just about any surface. Keep in mind that the longer you leave the product on, the easier the removal process will be.

If you need to remove paint from metal, you will want to use baking soda and boiling water instead of the products mentioned above. This works by heating the object via the boiling water, which in turn helps the metal and the paint expand at different rates. This causes a break in the bond and thus makes the paint removal process that much easier.
